Mr. Besobrasov is the Co-Founder and the Chief Operating Officer of Alupka Asset Management,
LLC founded in 2000 in San Francisco. The firm is an SEC registered investment advisor providing
direct investment advice to individuals, institutions and non-profit organizations. In addition, he is co-portfolio manager of the Alupka Absolute Return Fund, LP, a long/short equity hedge fund founded in
2001.
Prior to forming Alupka Asset Management, he was an Executive Director of Investments in the Private
Client Division of CIBC Oppenheimer. He focused on managing high-net worth portfolios. Before joining CIBC, he spent two years with ING Baring Furman Selz (1997-1999) as a Limited Partner, and two years with Societe General Cowen as a Director. While at ING Baring Furman Selz he specialized in advising corporate officers on liquidation and hedging strategies for concentrated equity portfolios. In addition, he covered Western Europe for equity research, sales and trading.
Nick was employed at Shearson Lehman American Express for approximately nine years in the position
of Vice President/Equity Capital Markets–Syndicate Department (1985-1988) in New York, and as a Senior Vice President in the Private Client Division (1989-1993) in San Francisco. He worked for approximately two years (1983-1984) at the New York Stock Exchange marketing the New York Futures Exchange stock index futures and index options contracts for equity portfolio hedging purposes to member firms and portfolio managers. He began his career at Smith Barney Harris Upham & Company in a similar capacity.
Nick is a graduate of Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 1981, where he majored in Economic
Development and History. He graduated Magna Cum Laude and was elected Phi Beta Kappa. He attended Aiglon College, a British secondary high school in Villars-Chesiere, Switzerland.
In addition to serving on the Board of Directors for FOA, Nick also serves on the Board of the Aiglon College Alumni Association. Nick is actively involved with numerous othere environmental causes in the San Francisco Bay Area and in Teton Valley, Idaho.
Nick has lived much of his life overseas including Viet Nam, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Madrid, London
and Switzerland. He is currently residing in Encinitas, California with his wife of 20 plus years, Ellen Krimmel.
