Shannon grew up in Salt Lake City and enjoyed the beauty of the Wasatch Mountains every day. Through family activities such as camping, hiking and fishing, she developed a love and appreciation of the wilderness.
After graduating from the University of Utah, she lived in many parts of our country and experienced the affects of what happens when development happens without respect to the environment and nature and it’s protection.
Coming back to Salt Lake City to visit family, she and her family began a deep love of Alta, it’s environment and the need to protect it. This was reinforced by their relationship with Bill and Mimi Levitt during their nearly 30 years of staying at the Alta Lodge for ski vacations. She is a long time supporter of Friends of Alta.
Now as part year residents of Sandy, the daily beauty of the Wasatch is right outside her door. Being a member of the Board of Directors of Friends of Alta gives her the opportunity to work for the preservation of Alta for the next generations of Gordon’s who love Alta as she does.
